Integrative Medicine

Integrative medicine is healing-oriented medicine that approaches the energetic, emotional and physical components of your being and makes use of all appropriate therapies, both conventional and alternative to facilitate the body’s innate healing response.

Experience the power of:

  • A partnership between patient and practitioner in the healing process

  • A zen environment where you can feel the openness and warmth, very inviting for healing

  • Consideration of all factors that influence health, wellness and disease, including mind, spirit and community as well as body

  • A philosophy that neither rejects conventional medicine nor accepts alternative therapies uncritically

  • Recognition that good medicine should be based in good science, be inquiry driven, and be open to new paradigms

  • Use of natural, effective, less-invasive interventions whenever possible

  • Use of the broader concepts of promotion of health and the prevention of illness as well as the treatment of disease

Practitioners of integrative medicine are fully trained to diagnose and treat functional disease before it damages tissues and organs and requires drastic, costly intervention. They work from the premise that the body can heal itself if given a chance, that mind/body interactions are real and often very relevant to issues of health and illness, that all aspects of lifestyle must be considered in evaluating patients, and that the doctor/patient relationship is a key factor in the outcome of treatment. In addition, they are familiar with a wide range of therapeutic options besides drugs. In recommending therapies not commonly included in mainstream practice, they pay attention to the evidence that supports them, always working from the principle that the greater the potential of a treatment to cause harm, the stricter the standards of proof for efficacy it must be held to.

To assess your current state of health, we will review your complete health questionnaire and any lab and diagnostic tests you may have. We will then, discuss the findings, possible causes of your complaints, any underlying problems that need to be addressed, and the need for any additional diagnostic tests.

The steps to improve your health and the reasoning behind them will be explored. You decide what complementary therapies you would like to use to boost and support your healing process. A personalized restorative yoga practice, an energy healing protocol, or the conventional approach can be applied- depending on your needs.  The type and duration of the treatment will vary according to the condition and your overall goals. These therapeutic tools will greatly complement- not interfere in any way- with any ongoing medical treatment.

The power of this type of comprehensive consultation lies in the fact that healing works best when you take an active role in the process and the advantage of the support and coaching from a qualified and experienced medical doctor.
